On January 11, 2021 local time, Sate Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor of Myanmar U Kyaw Tint Swe in Nay Pyi Taw.

Wang Yi said that although the pandemic has changed the world and affected our lives, it cannot stop the "Paukphaw" (fraternal) friendship between China and Myanmar from growing stronger. He believes the pandemic will eventually be defeated, adding that the reason for making Myanmar the first stop during his visit to neighboring countries this year amid the pandemic is to show the importance attached to China-Myanmar relations by the Chinese side and its support for Myanmar's government. China is willing to work with Myanmar to fully implement the important consensus reached during President Xi Jinping's visit to the country last year, enrich China-Myanmar relations, actively promote bilateral cooperation in important fields, and build a China-Myanmar community with a shared future that features China and Myanmar sticking together through thick and thin. He believes as an important assistant to Aung San Suu Kyi at the Office of the State Counsellor, U Kyaw Tint Swe will coordinate the administration to make new contribution in this regard.

Wang Yi said that China will continue to support Myanmar in pursuing national reconciliation, safeguarding national unification and territorial integrity, and defending its national dignity and legitimate interests. China will continue to uphold justice and speak out for Myanmar in the international arena, as it is obligated to do so being part of the China-Myanmar community. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations. It is also a critical year for the relations between China and the ASEAN. He hopes that Myanmar, the country coordinator of China-ASEAN relations, will support elevating China-ASEAN relations to a higher level and building a China-ASEAN Partnership on Blue Economy.

U Kyaw Tint Swe said, Myanmar is the first stop on the Chinese Foreign Minister's trip to neighboring countries, which shows how close China-Myanmar relations are. The pandemic cannot stop the two countries from enhancing their "Paukphaw" friendship; rather it makes them more united. Myanmar is willing to make joint efforts with China to fight against the pandemic and enhance bilateral cooperation, in order to strengthen coordination and cooperation in regional and international affairs, and promote the building of a Myanmar-China community with a shared future. Myanmar supports elevating China-ASEAN relations to a higher level and will make its due contribution in this regard. Myanmar expects to work with China to promote the Lancang-Mekong cooperation to new heights.
