China, UNHCR sign agreement to help Afghanistan fight COVID-19

Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), signed a cooperation agreement on helping Afghanistan fight COVID-19 with a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Dec 31, 2020.

The cooperation project, to be carried out under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund, aims to provide emergency supplies to Afghanistan's returned refugees and displaced people affected by the conflicts in the country, help them cope with the possible humanitarian crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and support local education.
