China-donated COVID-19 vaccines depart for Pakistan

China has decided to donate COVID-19 vaccines to support Pakistan's efforts to combat the pandemic. A plane carrying the vaccines departed from Beijing on Jan 31.

The inactivated-virus vaccine developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group was the second type of COVID-19 vaccine approved for emergency use by the Pakistani drug administration.

As of 8 am on Jan 31, Pakistan had reported 544,813 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 11,657 deaths, according to the official website of the Pakistani health authorities. A total of 499,974 patients had been cured.
