Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a working conference with Ukur Yatani, cabinet secretary for the Kenyan National Treasury & Planning Ministry, on Feb 4, via video link.

Zhou said that China-Kenya relations have developed rapidly and led to rich cooperative results in recent years. The two countries have worked together to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic ever since it broke out, which reflects their deep-rooted friendship.

China is willing to work with Kenya to continue to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19, said Zhou, adding China will strengthen cooperation on anti-pandemic fight with Kenya and support the country’s economic recovery and social development so as to promote China-Kenya relations to a new stage.

Yatani appreciated the long-lasting valuable support of China for Kenya's economy and social development, especially its selfless assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kenya attaches great importance to and cherishes its friendship with China and is willing to closely work with China to actively push forward agreed projects, win victory over the pandemic and achieve common development, said Yatani.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on specific cooperation projects and reached consensus in principle. Zhang Yijun, minister-counsellor of economy and commerce of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, attended the videoconference.
