China-donated COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Algeria

A Chinese government donation of COVID-19 vaccines, produced by Chinese company Sinopharm, arrived at the Boufarik military airport in Algeria on Feb 24.

Algerian Communication Minister Ammar Belhimer, Algerian Health Minister Abderrahmane Benbouzid and Chinese Ambassador to Algeria Li Lianhe attended the handover ceremony at the airport.

Belhimer appreciated China’s great support to Algeria’s anti-pandemic efforts and delivered a gratitude letter from Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad.

The donation will help Algeria start vaccination work and ultimately win the final victory over the pandemic, bringing normal life and production back to the country, said Belhimer.
