Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Siddharth Chatterjee, newly appointed United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in China on March 26 to exchange views on strengthening communications and cooperation.
Zhang congratulated Chatterjee on the assumption of his office in China, saying that the UN is an important partner for China to carry out international development cooperation, and that China is making every effort to support international anti-pandemic cooperation and earnestly fulfill its solemn commitment to make COVID-19 vaccine a global public good.
China is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the UN to jointly advance international cooperation in fighting the pandemic, implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and build a community with a shared future for mankind, said Zhang.
Chatterjee said that China has long provided a lot of support and assistance to other developing countries, actively carried out anti-pandemic international cooperation and played an important role in supporting the UN and its relevant agencies.
The cooperation between the two sides under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund has gained effective results, said Chatterjee, adding that the UN is ready to give full play to its advantages by strengthening coordination among its agencies as well as its partnership with China, innovate ways of international development cooperation, and jointly address the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic so as to continue to contribute to sustainable development.
