CIDCA chairman: China's seven-decade foreign aid filled with friendship, appreciation and boundless love

Hosted by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Achievements on China International Development Cooperation was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on April 26.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended and delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony.

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the CIDCA, gave a welcome speech.

Luo said that today the distinguished guests gathered at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse to open the Exhibition of Achievements on China International Development Cooperation in celebration of the seven decades of China's foreign aid.

In the past 70 years, the world has changed dramatically, but China has never stopped providing foreign aid. China's endeavors have borne fruits and gained worldwide respect, said Luo.

In the past 70 years, China's foreign aid has paved a road with friendship, kindness, hard work, devotion, gratitude and love. These are the virtues of the Chinese people and are shared by all of mankind, he said.  

Luo said that the glory of the past 70 years is created by both China and the rest of the world. The successive leaders and government of China, together with the Chinese people, have made great contribution to foreign aid over the last seven decades. Developing countries, relevant international organizations and the international community have also shown remarkable dedication to it.

Luo expressed his gratitude to the about 140 envoys from various countries and representatives of international organizations in attendance for their efforts to promote development cooperation between China and foreign countries and extended Ramadan greetings to envoys from Muslim countries.

He appreciated the attendance of officials from relevant Chinese ministries and commissions, adding that without their common efforts there would be no great Chinese assistance. His thanks also went to his colleagues at the CIDCA for their hard work in the past three years and for their thoughtful arrangements to make the event possible.

He expressed his special gratitude to State Councilor Wang Yi for attaching great importance and making great contribution to China's cause for international development cooperation, as well as for his commitment and dedication to the work of the CIDCA. He thanked Wang for gracing this occasion with his presence despite his busy schedule, and for sharing the vision of the Chinese government on international development cooperation coupled with his own profound insights.

Luo concluded his speech by saying that under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the young CIDCA will further deepen international development cooperation, continue to promote the common progress of mankind, and make efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a better world.

Senior Chinese officials attending the ceremony included Ning Jizhe, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, Shang Yong, vice-minister of emergency management, Liu Jianchao, deputy head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Li Baorong, deputy secretary-general of the State Council and head of the National Government Offices Administration, Qin Gang, vice-foreign minister, Zhang Xiangchen, vice-minister of commerce, Li Bin, vice-minister of the National Health Commission, Zhu Rui, assistant head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Lu Ming, a member of the leading Party members group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Guo Yiqiang, deputy secretary-general of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Khek M. Caimealy, dean of the diplomatic corps and Cambodian ambassador to China, and Siddharth Chatterjee, the United Nation's resident coordinator in China, were also in attendance at the event.
