Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Isabel Domingos, ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe to China, on April 27.
Zhou said that under the guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Sao Tome and Principe relationship enjoys fast development and cooperation continues to deepen in various fields.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Sao Tome and Principe have stood shoulder to shoulder and helped each other through thick and thin, which fully shows the strong vitality and vast prospects of the relationship between the two countries, said Zhou, adding that China is willing to make joint efforts with Sao Tome and Principe to thoroughly implement the fruits of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and promote the friendly cooperation of the two countries to a new level so as to benefit their people.
Domingos appreciated and spoke highly of the strong support from China for the country's economic and social development, especially the anti-pandemic assistance and the dispatching of medical teams to Sao Tome and Principe since the COVID-19 outbreak.
Sao Tome and Principe is willing to work closely with China and strengthen practical cooperation in such fields as agricultural poverty reduction, healthcare, infrastructure, green development and talent training, and push for better development of bilateral relations.
