Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Carlos Watson, representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to China, on May 10.
Zhang welcomed Watson on assuming the new post as the FAO representative to China, and said that the FAO is a crucial partner of China in carrying out international cooperation on poverty reduction and agricultural development.
China is making every effort to implement its major commitment on supporting anti-pandemic international cooperation. The CIDCA is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the FAO, and to make joint efforts to promote anti-pandemic international cooperation focusing on health and people's livelihoods, and build a community with a shared future for mankind, said Zhang.
The FAO attaches great importance to its cooperative partnership with China and the two sides' cooperation under the Assistance Fund for South-South Cooperation has yielded fruitful results, said Watson, adding that the FAO is willing to further expand the areas and ways of its cooperation with the CIDCA, build closer partnership and share more of China's contributions and experience with the world so as to address the global COVID-19 pandemic challenge and promote sustainable development.
