Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Daniel Owassa, ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to China, on May 13.
Zhou said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries half a century ago, China and Congo have enjoyed solid political mutual trust and fruitful pragmatic cooperation in various fields, making them "all-weather" friends.
Under the guidance of the two heads of state, the relations between China and Congo are now at their best in history. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have supported each other and jointly fought the pandemic, bringing their traditional friendship to the fore once again, he said.
China is willing to work together with Congo to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and promote the smooth sailing of the two sides’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership at a high level so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples.
Owassa highly appreciated China's strong support for the economic and social development of Congo, especially its anti-pandemic supplies and vaccine assistance and dispatch of medical expert teams since the pandemic.
Congo attaches great importance to the friendly cooperative relations with China and is willing to continue to work closely with China to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields such as health care and push bilateral relations to a new level, said Owassa.
The two sides exchanged in-depth views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
