Senegalese President Macky Sall met with Chinese Ambassador to Senegal Xiao Han on May 14, and witnessed Xiao and Senegalese Minister of Health Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr signing the handover certificate of China-donated vaccine to Senegal on behalf of their governments.

Xiao said that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have worked together in the fight against the virus, demonstrating the high level of their friendship.

He said that the vaccine donated by the Chinese government to Senegal arrived smoothly and it is believed that it will play a positive role in fighting the pandemic and protecting people's health and safety in Senegal.

China is willing to work together with Senegal to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and give full play to the mechanism and role of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation so as to push the China-Senegal and China-Africa cooperation to new heights, Xiao said.

Sall said the Chinese vaccine has provided important protection for the Senegalese people and brought hope for Senegal to win the battle against the pandemic. The Chinese vaccine is safe and effective, trusted and welcomed by the Senegalese people, and has made an important contribution to Senegal's response to the pandemic.

He said since the outbreak of the pandemic, China has given Senegal strong support in various ways, and the Senegalese government is deeply grateful to the Chinese government and people. Senegal is willing to work with China to promote cooperation between the two countries and promote the construction of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to a new level, Sall said.
