Zhou said that China and Mozambique enjoy a profound traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1975, they have maintained increasingly close exchanges in politics, economic matters and culture.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, the two countries have supported each other in overcoming difficulties and carried out anti-pandemic cooperation in various forms, including vaccines, anti-pandemic materials and medical experts, with remarkable results achieved, he said.

China is willing to continue to strengthen development cooperation with Mozambique, push for sustained development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and work with Mozambique to build a more solid China-Africa community with a shared future, he added.

Gustava said that Mozambique cherishes the brotherly friendship between China and Mozambique and is grateful for China's long-standing valuable support to Mozambique's economic and social development, especially its selfless assistance when Mozambique was affected by the intense tropical cyclone Idai and the COVID-19 pandemic. Mozambique is willing to continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation with China and implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
