CIDCA vice-chairman meets with Dominican Republic ambassador to China

Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Briunny Garabito Segura, ambassador of the Dominican Republic to China, on June 24.

Zhou extended a warm welcome to Garabito for his visit, saying that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China-Dominican Republic bilateral relations have been developing rapidly and their cooperative achievements have been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and the Dominican Republic have supported each other and joined hands to fight the pandemic, which reflects the friendship between the two countries, said Zhou.

This year marks the third anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations. From this new starting point, China will work with the Dominican Republic to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen cooperation in areas such as healthcare and people's livelihood and push China-Dominican Republic relations to a new level, said Zhou.

Garabito spoke highly of the achievements made by the CIDCA since its establishment and thanked China for its strong support and assistance in fighting the pandemic and improving people's lives. The Dominican Republic is willing to continue to work closely with China in order to promote greater development in bilateral relations, he added.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
