Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Carlos Miguel Pereira, Cuban ambassador to China, on June 25.
Luo said that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers. The special and friendly relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of over 60 years of changes in the international situation, and has become a model of unity and cooperation among developing countries.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and it is also the 60th anniversary of the announcement by Comrade Fidel Castro that the Cuban Revolution has socialist characteristics, said Luo.
China is willing to work together with Cuba to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the CPC and the Communist Party of Cuba as well as the two countries in recent calls. The two countries will make joint efforts to fight the pandemic, deepen their development cooperation, and take high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road as an opportunity to better benefit the two nations and their people.
Pereira warmly congratulated the CPC on its centenary and recognized the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC. He thanked China for its strong support in Cuban's fight against the pandemic and improving people's livelihoods. China's timely assistance to the Cuban government and people shows that "a friend in need is a friend indeed". Cuba is ready to continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields and push their friendly relations to a new level, he said.
The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on specific issues in international development cooperation.
