Yan said at the handover ceremony that China and Barbados have always been good friends and partners who trust each other. After the outbreak of COVID-19, China quickly assisted Barbados with much-needed anti-pandemic supplies, and twice organized Chinese disease control experts to share their anti-pandemic experience with their Barbadian counterparts via video link.

He said that the vaccine assistance is another concrete initiative of cooperation between China and Barbados in fighting the pandemic. China is willing to continue to support various developing countries, including Barbados, in their fight against the pandemic and their quest to resume normal economic and social life as soon as possible.

Mottley warmly congratulated the Communist Party of China on its centennial anniversary in her speech and highly appreciated the timely medical aid provided by China to Barbados since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
