Juncao, which requires a small investment but can produce large output within a short period of time, can reduce poverty, increase job opportunities and improve food security. Through aid cooperation, China's Juncao cultivation technique has been promoted to more than 100 countries around the world such as Lesotho and Fiji, achieving remarkable social and economic results. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese experts working in other countries have stuck to their positions to ensure normal operation of related projects and services.
In Southern Africa's Lesotho, the Juncao-based mushroom cultivation project enables the poorest farmers to harvest 1.2 tons of fresh mushrooms on a land of 10 square meters, which greatly improves local people's lives.
"I was born in a poor family and am the mother of two daughters. I also need to take care of my father. Because of my poor education background, I earn an income that is far too little for my daily life. What's more, I am heavily in debt. China's Juncao cooperation project saved me! Over the past four years, my income has significantly increased thanks to the Juncao-based mushroom cultivation project and careful instruction of Chinese experts. In the near future, my family members and I will move in a new house. All of this will be impossible without the Chinese government and Chinese Juncao experts. They changed my life," said a Lesotho woman.
