In a pasture of the Republic of Djibouti, a Chinese veterinarian and his African apprentice were delivering a baby dairy cow in a difficult labor. The farmer was very anxious because dairy cattle are his key property.

With the effort of the Chinese expert and his apprentice, the baby cow was born smoothly. "Thank you so much for solving the problem of my cattle. With your help, my pasture became completely different and my family became rich," the farmer said gratefully.

Animal husbandry dominates Djibouti's agricultural industry, with about 17 percent of people making their living by it. Because of the country's high temperature, local animals are usually infected with many diseases.

The Chinese government has sent four groups of 22 high-level agricultural experts to Djibouti since 2009. These experts overcame hot summer temperatures to carry out training in the country's five pasturing areas, teaching local herdsmen breeding techniques and treating animal diseases.

With many years of effort of the Chinese experts, animals' infectious diseases in pasturing areas of Djibouti have been greatly reduced and herdsmen's incomes have remarkably increased. The Chinese agricultural experts in Djibouti have become the best friends and brothers of local herdsmen.
