The China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) signed a cooperation agreement with Southwest China's Yunnan province on Oct 13.

CIDCA Vice-Chairman Zhou Liujun, who was attending the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Kunming, capital of Yunnan, and Cui Maohu, vice-governor of Yunnan, signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations.

Zhou thanked the Yunnan provincial government and other departments for their strong support over the years for the country's work on foreign aid. He acknowledged Yunnan's achievements in reinforcing national unity and progress, promoting ecological conservation, contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthening border epidemic prevention and control.

He said he hoped the two parties will take the signing of this agreement as an opportunity to further integrate resources in foreign aid so as to serve the country's diplomacy and Yunnan's opening-up and socio-economic development.

Cui thanked the CIDCA for its care and support for Yunnan's participation in the country's foreign aid. He said Yunnan will further leverage its political, economic, cultural and geographical advantages to serve China's major-country diplomacy and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future with neighboring countries.

The cooperation agreement is the first of its kind that the CIDCA has signed with a local government since its establishment in 2018.
