CIDCA, UNIDO sign cooperative MoU

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) met with Li Yong, director-general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), on Oct 28 via video link.

The two signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the meeting.

Luo said that as a specialized organization of the United Nations (UN) for industrial development, the UNIDO has been committed to promoting poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and sustainable industrial development, and has made important contributions to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

China's Global Development Initiative provides a direction for cooperation between the two sides, said Luo, adding that the CIDCA is willing to take the signing of the MoU as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges with the UNIDO, take advantage of their respective strengths, and actively explore cooperation in various fields to jointly help developing countries achieve the goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Li said that the CIDCA has taken the lead in promoting the expanding layout of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in China's foreign aid and international development cooperation, and has played an important role in promoting South-South and triangular cooperation. It's a close cooperation partner of the UNIDO.

The UNIDO will work with the CIDCA to help the developing countries meet their development challenges, and continuously deepen international development cooperation with the UNIDO's member states, including China, to achieve inclusive and sustainable industrial development and promote the common prosperity of the world.

Wang Qun, Chinese envoy to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, attended the video meeting.
