Wang Yi first conveyed cordial greetings from Chinese leaders to Rutte. He said that the year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Netherlands and is of great significance in inheriting the past and ushering in the future. China attaches great importance to bilateral relations and takes the Netherlands as the "portal" of China-EU cooperation. Rutte asked Wang Yi to convey his warm wishes to Chinese leaders. Rutte said, the Netherlands is looking forward to the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, and hopes to be updated about the preparations and actively participate in the Games. Wang Yi updated the preparations for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games, stressing that China has confidence in delivering a "simple, safe and splendid" Olympic gala to the world. Rutte spoke highly of China's declaration on no more coal-based power projects overseas, saying that the Netherlands stands ready to work with China to promote green and low-carbon development around the world.
