Liang said that since the outbreak of COVID-19, China was the first country to donate anti-pandemic medical supplies and vaccines to Peru, and the Chinese government also sent a medical expert team to help Peru in its fight against COVID-19. The large amount of urgently needed anti-pandemic supplies has saved many lives in Peru, he added.

The year 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru, Liang said, adding that the vaccine aid is another testament to the high-level development of the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership and the profound friendship between the two peoples.

China stands ready to work with Peru to continue to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation and further deepen the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership, Liang added.

Cevallos expressed his sincere gratitude to China for the generous help, saying that China has provided Peru with timely anti-pandemic support and assistance. As Peru's fight against COVID-19 is now at a critical stage, aid from China is crucial for the Peruvian people, he said.

The donation will help promote COVID-19 vaccination progress among Peruvian people, said Luis Tsuboyama, director general for economic affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru. Peru is willing to make joint efforts with China to push forward the continuous development of bilateral relations, he added.
