A China-funded millet milling factory hosted its first guests, which included officials from Burkina Faso's agricultural department, technicians and farmer representatives, on the day of its inauguration in November 2021.
The main goal of the visit was to attend a vocational training session on the operation of the China-donated millet processing equipment.
Since China implemented an overseas technical assistance project on the plantation of millet in Burkina Faso three years ago, Chinese agricultural experts have held multiple rounds of technical training sessions for local people in a wide range of topics, which cover millet seeding and plantation, crop pest control, irrigation infrastructure and the operation of agricultural machinery.
The Chinese experts have spared no efforts to impart their agricultural knowledge and skills to local trainees, who are expected to become a leading force in the grain development of Burkina Faso, the improvement of food security in the African country, and the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector in the future.
So far, the China-funded demonstration project for the plantation of millet has earned great recognition and praise from Burkina Faso's government and people and become an additional symbol of the friendly relationship between the two countries.
Gaoussou Sanou, a coordinator of China-Burkina Faso agricultural cooperation projects, said he hopes that the China-funded millet plantation demonstration project can be implemented for a longer time to further consolidate existing achievements.
In addition, many agricultural experts and farmers in Burkina Faso are looking forward to strengthening their technical exchanges with Chinese experts over the cultivation of hybrid millet seeds and making advanced Chinese agricultural technologies accessible to more people in distant regions of the underdeveloped African nation.
