The 2018 Training Course on Chinese Shaolin Martial Arts for Developing Countries, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the Henan University of Technology, brought together kung fu enthusiasts from 12 countries.

As one of leading schools of Chinese martial arts, Shaolin kung fu has become a valuable asset of traditional Chinese culture and enjoyed great popularity among Chinese and foreign people.

Many attendees at the training course said they have benefited a lot and will make full use of what they’ve learned to further promote the Chinese martial arts and deepen cultural exchanges between China and their own countries in the future.

President of Cuba met with two Cuban participants when they came back from China. The pair also held a Chinese martial arts performance during the 2019 Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, to promote Chinese culture, winning applause of the president.

Two Mongolian trainees founded their country's first association of Chinese martial arts when they returned home. With the help of the Confucius Institute at the National University of Mongolia and the Chinese Culture Center in Ulaanbaatar, they successfully organized a martial arts contest, which drew the attendance of thousands of enthusiasts. The contestants trained in China outperformed others and claimed 55 gold medals, 89 silver medals and 126 bronze medals during the event.

They said in a interview that they established the Mongolian Martial Arts Development Association to promote martial arts exchanges and strengthen the friendship between the two countries. They also talked about their personal experience in learning Chinese kung fu and gave a performance for the audience during the interview.
