Zhou Liujun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a video conference with Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Deborah Rivas and Deputy Minister of Economy and Planning Roberto Pérez on Dec 23.
Zhou said that China and Cuba are good friends, comrades and brothers. The two countries have actively implemented the consensuses reached by their leaders, supported each other in overcoming difficulties, deepened anti-pandemic cooperation, achieved good results in livelihoods projects and transported assistance materials urgently and rapidly, consolidating and improving the profound relationship between them.
China is willing to continue to promote practical cooperation with Cuba in various areas on the basis of anti-pandemic cooperation to benefit the two peoples, said Zhou.
Rivas, on behalf of the Cuban government and people, thanked the Chinese government and people for their brotherhood. He said that China's assistance has strongly supported Cuba's economic and social development. In particular, China has provided emergency assistance including anti-pandemic materials such as drugs, oxygen generators and ventilators and food assistance to help Cuba cope with the COVID-19 pandemic and economic difficulties in a timely manner. Cuba has confidence in carrying out further cooperative projects with China, said Rivas.
Pérez sincerely thanked China for its support for Cuban economic and social development and spoke highly of the fruitful results of the bilateral cooperation. He said he hopes China will continue to deepen cooperation with Cuba in various areas and help Cuba realize its 2030 national development plan.
The two sides exchanged views on specific projects and signed cooperative documents via video link.
