The Bolivian national ski team, composed of eight athletes and coaches, came to China for a 60-day full range technical instruction and training. Two athletes of them will participate in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
For many years, the Bolivian government has been working hard on its snow and ice sports. However, the country's snow sports have developed slowly as a result of problems such as a lack of money, equipment, facilities and coaches.
On the occasion of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, China's sports technical assistance program to Bolivia started in time to help Bolivian athletes prepare for the Beijing 2022 and cultivate reserve sports talents for the country.
Erika Cortez Casas, coach of the Bolivian ski team, said the sports technical assistance program helps her to pass on the knowledge learned in China to the new generation in Bolivia. She expressed gratitude to China for its selfless dedication in providing this unique opportunity, hoping that the Beijing 2022 Olympics will be a great success and leave a beautiful mark on history.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to train in China and I will give my best to grow both athletically and personally and dream of one day competing at a Winter Olympics as an athlete or coach," said Marco Mollinedo Alvino, a member of the Bolivian national ski team.
