On the morning of February 5, 2022 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Premier Li Keqiang met with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang, who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.
Li Keqiang said, protecting intellectual property rights means protecting innovation. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the work of intellectual property protection. As the largest developing country, we must attach importance to innovation-driven development in promoting economic transformation. Creating, utilizing and protecting intellectual property rights are integrated. China will continue to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in an all-round way, treat and protect the intellectual property rights of Chinese and foreign-funded enterprises equally, stimulate the innovation vitality of the whole society, continue to improve the business environment, and promote international cooperation in the field of innovation.
Li Keqiang pointed out, next year will mark the 50th anniversary of cooperation between China and the WIPO. Not long ago, China ratified the Marrakesh Treaty and joined the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, not only reflecting China's commitment to international rules, but also benefiting China's own development. China is willing to further deepen cooperation with the WIPO in the fields of innovation and development.
Daren Tang congratulated China on the splendid opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and said that the WIPO attaches great importance to cooperation with China. China's achievements in strengthening intellectual property system building are witnessed by all. The WIPO believes that intellectual property protection is the driving force for creating jobs, expanding investment and promoting economic development, and stays committed to promoting the development of the international intellectual property system toward a more open and inclusive direction, which is in line with China's philosophy. The WIPO appreciates China's promulgation of the Guidelines for Building a Powerful Intellectual Property Nation (2021-2035) and its ratification of relevant international treaties, and stands ready to strengthen cooperation with China.
