On the afternoon of February 6, 2022, President Xi Jinping met with Prince Albert II of Monaco at the Great Hall of the People.
Xi Jinping delightedly recollected the "Olympic tie" with Prince Albert II. Xi Jinping pointed out, since my state visit to Monaco in 2019, competent authorities of both countries have earnestly implemented our important consensuses, China-Monaco relations have gained new development and bilateral exchanges and cooperation in such fields as communications, environmental protection, sports and art have yielded fruitful results. In particular, enterprises of both countries have co-established a 5G network in Monaco, the first of its kind in the world that covers an entire country. China-Monaco relations have become a model of friendly exchanges and mutual benefits between countries of different sizes, histories and cultures. It is convinced that China-Monaco relations will continue to develop in a sustained and sound manner.
Xi Jinping stressed, the two sides should consolidate their traditional friendship and political mutual trust, and step up communication and coordination in multilateral organizations including the United Nations and international affairs to jointly uphold multilateralism. China welcomes more Monacan enterprises to participate in the China International Import Expo, increase their investment in China, take an active part in the international Belt and Road cooperation, and probe into third-party market cooperation. He welcomed Monaco's participation in the second phase of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. Both sides should diversify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, carry out language teaching cooperation, facilitate mutual visits and performances of artistic organizations, stage cultural and artistic exhibitions in each other's country, and expand cooperation in education and tourism.
Prince Albert II congratulated on China's hosting of a successful opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, saying that the event has sent a strong message of peace and solidarity to the world, which is exactly what the planet urgently needs. I applaud President Xi Jinping's important message in his speech at the welcoming banquet at noon yesterday and believe that China will continue to make greater contributions to world peace and development. The Monacan people still have a fresh memory of President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Monaco three years ago. Monaco will continue to push ahead the sound relationship with China and propel both sides to yield greater cooperation results in such fields as economy, trade, communications, environmental protection, marine affairs and biodiversity. Monaco supports China's hosting of the second phase of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Kunming.
