On February 5, 2022, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Mongolian Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg, who accompanied Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene to China to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Wang Yi said, last night, the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 solemnly opened. I would like to thank the Mongolian government and people for their firm support for China's successful hosting of the Olympic Winter Games. We are confident of working with all parties to present a streamlined, safe and splendid Olympic Games to the world. I believe that Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene's visit to China will be a complete success and promote the stronger development of bilateral relations.
Wang Yi said, China and Mongolia are important neighbors to each other, and the friendly cooperation between the two countries has a solid foundation and broad prospects for development. The two sides should continue to consolidate political mutual trust, respect each other's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, support each other in safeguarding core interests and major concerns, and constantly enrich the connotation of China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Battsetseg wished the Chinese people an auspicious and prosperous Year of the Tiger and congratulated China on successfully hosting the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 as scheduled despite the challenges brought by the pandemic. She said, last year, the Mongolian People's Party and the Communist Party of China celebrated their respective 100-year anniversaries, which was of great significance to the two countries. Mongolia will work with China to fully implement the political consensus between the two countries, further align development strategies, advance the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and expand practical cooperation in various fields.
The two sides reached consensus on continuously deepening cooperation in a wide range of areas including connectivity, infrastructure, minerals and energy, intelligent cities and ecological environment and coordination within multilateral mechanisms.
