Celebrating 100th anniversary of CPC | Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway: A bridge for communication between China and Ethiopia

The closing ceremony of the Ethiopia railway operation technology training course, under the foreign aid human resources development cooperation project hosted by China, was held in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, on Nov 20, 2019.

The director of human resources of the Ethio-Djibouti Standard Gauge Railway Share Company (EDR) attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Expressing sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for making the training course possible, she said the Chinese instructors taught both theories and practical skills, which helped improve the overall capability of the operation team of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway.

Railway operation, maintenance, and construction are completely different, and they require long-term and continuous investment and dedication, she added, hoping that the trainees will become railway experts with the help of the training course and make contributions to the maintenance of the railway.

A trainee representative said they were very grateful to the Chinese side for their hard work, from which the trainees have gained professional knowledge of railway engineering, train services and electrical services. They were also inspired by both the professionalism and ethics and integrity of the Chinese instructors.

He added that he will use the knowledge he has learned in the operation and maintenance of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, and hopes to have more opportunities to participate in relevant training programs hosted by the Chinese government.
