A shipment of China-donated emergency humanitarian relief supplies was handed over to Madagascar on April 29.
Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar Guo Xiaomei and Madagascar's Minister of Internal and Decentralization Tokely Justin attended the handover ceremony.
Guo said China is deeply sympathetic regarding Madagascar's great casualties and property losses caused by this year's hurricanes. The Chinese government, as well as Chinese enterprises and people in Madagascar, have always stood together with the government and people of Madagascar to overcome difficulties.
This shipment of materials is not only a representation of China-Madagascar solidarity and cooperation in fighting natural disasters, but also a concrete way for both countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind, Guo said.
Justin expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for its assistance. He said that over the past five decades, China, thousands of miles apart from Madagascar, has always supported the people of Madagascar with practical action during difficult times, and this significant donation reflects the brotherhood between Madagascar and China.
The materials handed over by the Chinese government include tents, blankets, quilts and steel plates that will be used for disaster response and post-disaster reconstruction work in affected areas.
