CIDCA vice-chairman meets with Solomon Islands ambassador to China

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), held a virtual meeting with John Moffat Fugui, ambassador of the Solomon Islands to China, on May 18.

Zhao said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Solomon Islands three years ago, the two sides have continued to deepen their consensus on development cooperation, carried out a series of practical cooperation, and achieved good results. The results of cooperation in various fields demonstrate the correctness of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

He said China is willing to support the Solomon Islands in hosting the 2023 Pacific Games, continue to help with the Solomon Islands' anti-pandemic fight, strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of health care, information and communication, education and training, and promote the continuous development of friendly relations between the two countries.

Fugui expressed the Solomon Islands' heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government for the selfless assistance it has provided to the Solomon Islands since the establishment of diplomatic relations, adding that the practical cooperation between the two sides in the field of development has played an important and positive role in promoting the economic and social development of the Solomon Islands. 

The Solomon Islands is willing to work closely with China to further expand cooperation in education, agriculture and infrastructure to promote the two countries' common development.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues regarding development cooperation.
