Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Nikolai Snopkov, first deputy prime minister of Belarus, on May 23 via video link.
Luo said that China and Belarus are comprehensive strategic partners and iron-clad friends. Since last year, the two heads of state have spoken to each other several times and exchanged congratulatory messages on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Guided by the important consensus of the two heads of state, China-Belarus friendly relations and practical cooperation have developed comprehensively.
Luo said the two sides have worked together and overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to promote fruitful development cooperation, which played an important role in the high-quality co-building of the Belt and Road and promoting Belarus’ economic and social development. China is willing to work with Belarus to continue to strengthen cooperation in fighting the pandemic, promote the construction of major projects, and actively explore cooperation in such fields as the digital economy, education, health, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges to better benefit the people of both countries and promote the continuous development of two sides’ friendly relations, he said.
Snopkov thanked China for its long-standing selfless assistance to Belarus’ economic and social development and livelihood improvement for its people, and said he is satisfied with the cooperation results in the field of development between the two countries.
Belarus is willing to work closely with China to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and work together to promote the Belt and Road and the Belarus-China community with a shared future.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues concerning development cooperation between the two countries.
