Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Allan Joseph Chintedza, ambassador of Malawi to China, on July 5.
Zhao said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malawi in 2007, the two countries' relationship has developed steadily and healthily, with bilateral political mutual trust continuously consolidated and practical cooperation continuously promoted.
Zhao made a four-pronged proposal on strengthening China-Malawi cooperation, adding that China is willing to work with Malawi to deepen co-construction of the Belt and Road, and actively implement the Global Development Initiative as well as the assistance measures mentioned at the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, so as to promote the deepening of the two countries' pragmatic cooperation, making it stable and far reaching.
Chintedza said Malawi is sincerely grateful for the long-standing and selfless support of the Chinese government, and stated that the two countries' pragmatic cooperation in the development field has played an important role in boosting Malawi's economic and social development.
Chintedza echoed the proposal put forward by China, saying that Malawi is willing to closely work with China to further expand cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, people's livelihoods and infrastructure, so as to promote the two countries to realize common development.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues concerning the development cooperation between the two countries.
