On July 5, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai jointly met the press after their talks in Bangkok.
Wang Yi said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Thailand. Bilateral relations have made steady progress and enjoy broad prospects. During the visit, the two sides had in-depth strategic communication and reached consensus in four aspects.
First, jointly build a China-Thailand community with a shared future. Both sides agreed to make it the goal and vision for the future development of bilateral ties. This will further enrich the relations that China and Thailand are as close as one family in keeping with the times, and usher in a brighter future of more stable, prosperous and sustainable bilateral relations.
Second, jointly work towards the early opening of the China-Laos-Thailand railway. Both sides agreed to make the railway run south directly to the Eastern Economic Corridor in Thailand and head north into Yunnan Province via Laos, and connect the railway with the New International Land-Sea Corridor, leading directly to Europe. Both sides agreed to smooth the flow of goods with convenient channels, promote economy and trade with better logistics, and boost the growth of industries with robust economy and trade, launch more cold-chain freight train services, tourism and durian express, and facilitate all-around cooperation along the route, delivering more tangible benefits to the people of the three countries.
Third, jointly safeguard cyber security. Both sides just signed a memorandum of understanding on cyber security cooperation, which will promote the sound and stable development of the digital economy of the two countries and contribute the strength of China and Thailand to global digital security. The two sides will resolutely crack down on all forms of telecom fraud and safeguard the property security of the two peoples.
Fourth, jointly push for positive results at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting. China will firmly support Thailand in successfully hosting the APEC meeting this year, and playing its role as the host to lead the meeting to focus on the Asia-Pacific, development and the building of a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, follow the guidance of the Putrajaya Vision 2040, set out on a new journey and inject fresh and robust impetus into APEC development.
