On July 5, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai in Bangkok.
Wang Yi said, "China and Thailand are close like a family" is a vivid portrayal of the close relationship between the two countries, and is also a valuable treasure that both sides should cherish and safeguard. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Thailand have helped each other and overcome difficulties together. Pragmatic cooperation between the two sides has bucked the overall downward trend and showed positive growth, showing stronger resilience and greater vitality. As the world enters a new period of volatility and transformation, China and Thailand, both important developing countries and emerging economies, should strengthen strategic coordination and make greater contributions to regional and global peace and stability. The Chinese side fully supports Thailand in hosting a successful Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting this year to send Asia's messages on and contribute Asia's strengths to global governance.
Don spoke highly of the fact that the two countries have upheld the spirit of "China and Thailand are close like a family", maintained strategic communication, deepened political mutual trust and expanded pragmatic cooperation. He thanked China for its strong support to Thailand in fighting the pandemic, and for facilitating customs clearance of Thai agricultural products exported to China and the return of Thai students to China. Thailand is pleased with the sound coordination between the two countries in multilateral and regional affairs, and expects to work with China to focus the APEC meeting on openness, connectivity and balance, and push for positive results in the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific and Bio-Circular-Green Economy, among others, so as to boost the post-pandemic economic recovery.
Both sides agreed to take the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as an opportunity to jointly plan the future development of bilateral relations, strive to build a more stable, prosperous and sustainable China-Thailand community with a shared future, elevate the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights, enhance the friendship between the two peoples, and make greater strides in cooperation in various fields.
Both sides agreed to strive for an early opening of the China-Laos-Thailand railway, so as to smooth the flow of goods with convenient channels, promote economy and trade with better logistics, and boost the growth of industries with robust economy and trade. Both sides agreed to comprehensively advance tripartite cooperation among China, Laos and Thailand to substantially boost sub-regional development.
Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on cyber security and jointly crack down on telecom fraud.
