On July 8, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the Bali Island, which was chaired by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and attended by foreign ministers of member states and guest states of the G20, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and responsible officials of other international organizations.

Wang Yi said, at present, world peace and development face major challenges. The international community expects the G20 to build international consensus, promote international cooperation and convey confidence and hope to a world full of uncertainties. We need to renew our aspiration for cooperation in solidarity, uphold true multilateralism, and be partners with mutual respect and consultation on an equal footing, partners of peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and partners for openness, inclusiveness and connectivity. We need to make solidarity prevail over differences, cooperation replace confrontation, and translate the spirit of multilateralism into concrete actions to safeguard world peace and boost common development.

Wang Yi said, all parties should strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination and promote inclusive recovery and growth of the world economy; work together to maintain the stability of global industrial and supply chains and ease global inflationary pressure; strengthen the multilateral trading system and foster an open, transparent and non-discriminatory international trading environment; continue to prioritize development, and strengthen cooperation in poverty alleviation, pandemic response, infrastructure, green development and other fields.

Wang Yi stressed, China will continue to promote peace talks on the Ukraine issue and always stand on the side of peace. The Chinese side looks forward to peace through dialogue and consultation, a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities as soon as possible, and the prevention of a protracted and escalating conflict. Serious and comprehensive dialogue should be encouraged to jointly build a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture. China will implement the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and work with all parties to build a world of peace, development, cooperation and win-win results.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, multilateralism is not an option but a must. He hopes that all parties will earnestly put multilateralism into practice, promote connectivity, openness and inclusiveness, and better cope with current pressing challenges.

All parties mainly discussed ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, post-pandemic recovery, industrial and supply chains, food and energy security and other issues and held that G20 should play an important role in strengthening multilateralism, bridging the trust deficit, addressing urgent challenges and preventing world fragmentation.
