CIDCA vice-chairman meets with president of global policy & advocacy at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Gargee Ghosh, president of global policy and advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, on July 20.

Ghosh appreciated the important role played by China in multilateral systems and the positive contributions made by the CIDCA in the fields of international anti-pandemic cooperation and food aid.

Ghosh said the foundation and the CIDCA share the same concept and have a good basis for cooperation, adding that he looks forward to exploring practical cooperation with the CIDCA in health, agriculture, inclusive finance and other areas under the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and jointly helping developing countries achieve self-reliant development as soon as possible.

Deng spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides and elaborated on China's international cooperation against the pandemic, food aid and anti-malaria aid through emergency humanitarian assistance, capacity building and experience sharing, and helping enhance the independent development capacity of recipient countries.

Deng said the CIDCA is willing to work together with the foundation to deepen practical cooperation in such fields as food security and health, and jointly promote the implementation of the GDI and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
