On August 29, 2022, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to Pakistani President Arif Alvi over the severe floods in Pakistan.
Xi Jinping stressed that severe floods hit Pakistan recently, causing heavy casualties and property losses. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, and in my own name, I would like to express deep condolences to the victims and extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved families, the injured, and the people in the disaster-stricken areas.
Xi Jinping pointed out that as all-weather strategic cooperative partners and "ironclad" friends, China and Pakistan have long been sharing weal and woe, rendering mutual assistance, and standing shoulder to shoulder to address natural disasters and other major challenges. In the wake of the floods, China rushed to Pakistan's aid and will continue to offer much-needed assistance to support Pakistan's disaster relief work. I believe that with the joint efforts of the Pakistani government and people, the people in the disaster-stricken areas will defeat the floods and rebuild their homes at an early date.
On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message of condolence to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
