Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Mbelwa Kairuki, ambassador of Tanzania to China, on Aug 23.
Zhao said that China and Tanzania share a profound and long-lasting friendship, and the Tanzania-Zambia Railway is a testimony to and monument of the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China is willing to work with Tanzania to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), accelerate the implementation of assistance measures concerning the nine projects of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Tanzania, and continuously deepen the comprehensive partnership between China and Tanzania.
Kairuki expressed his heartfelt thanks to China for its long-term assistance and support, saying that China's selfless help has played an important role in fighting COVID-19, promoting economic and social development, and enhancing people's welfare in Tanzania.
Tanzania hopes to strengthen practical cooperation with China under the framework of the FOCAC, actively participate in the GDI and promote development cooperation projects in various fields, said Kairuki, adding that his country is willing to work together with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state.
The two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
