On Sept 7, China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region donated disaster relief supplies worth 1 million yuan ($144,467) to the disaster-hit Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, at the Khunjerab pass - the China-Pakistan border crossing.

The donation included winter supplies such as winter coats, blankets and tents, all made by local enterprises of Kashgar in Xinjiang. Multiple areas of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, have suffered repeated heavy rainfall and floods, causing severe loss of lives and property, as well as damage to major infrastructure. The Gilgit-Baltistan government thus made a request for supplies and assistance to the Xinjiang government.
