New batch of China-aided COVID-19 vaccines, medical supplies handed over to Mali

On Oct 27, 300,000 doses of China-aided COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies arrived in Bamako, capital of Mali. Chinese Ambassador to Mali Chen Zhihong and Malian Minister of Health and Social Development Dieminatou Sangare attended the handover ceremony.

On behalf of Malian Interim President Assimi Goïta, Interim Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maiga and the Malian government, Sangare extended her sincere appreciation to the Chinese government for the donation.

The World Health Organization (WHO)'s interim representative to Mali said that China's additional assistance to Mali demonstrated the country's long-term support to Mali's public health, which is greatly appreciated and lauded by the WHO.

Chen said that China has been resolutely implementing its solemn commitment to the world to make Chinese vaccines a global public good, in response to the new challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, offering China's contribution to achieving the accessibility and affordability of vaccines in developing countries. China will stand with Mali and continue to support its fight against the pandemic, deepen bilateral cooperation in health, and build a China-Mali community with a shared future for the benefit of people in both countries, he added.
