Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Ian Coronel Kinloch, ambassador of Nicaragua to China, on Nov 2.
Zhao noted that since the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Nicaragua, the two countries have deepened political mutual trust and made steady progress in development assistance cooperation with fruitful preliminary results. He reviewed bilateral cooperation projects, introduced the significance, major achievements and far-reaching impact of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He said China pledges to continue deepening cooperation with Nicaragua under the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, work jointly to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and contribute to world peace, the common development of humanity and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Coronel extended his congratulations on the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, and his appreciation for China's valuable support to Nicaragua, saying that China's selfless assistance has played an important role in his country's pandemic response, socioeconomic development and improvement of people's livelihoods. Nicaragua is willing to learn from China on poverty reduction and development, and will work with China to jointly implement bilateral cooperation projects and advance the cause of global peace and development.
The two sides also held an in-depth exchange of views on specific issues related to development cooperation.
