On November 3, 2022, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Great Hall of the People during her state visit to China.
Premier Li noted that the friendship between China and Tanzania has a long history, bilateral relations have developed in a sound manner in recent years, and practical cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes. President Xi Jinping held talks with President Hassan, and exchanged in-depth views on the development of bilateral relations. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has made strategic plans for the development of the country in the coming period, and China will continue to advance high-level opening-up. China stands ready to work with Tanzania to enhance the alignment of development strategies, deepen cooperation in key areas such as economy and trade, energy, health, agriculture and fishery, and maintain close cultural and people-to-people exchanges, so as to push forward sound and steady development of China-Tanzania relations. China is willing to expand its import of marketable products from Tanzania, and encourage Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Tanzania, and hopes Tanzania will provide the necessary support.
Premier Li noted that China is the largest developing country in the world, and Africa is the continent with the largest number of developing countries, and the two sides have always rendered each other mutual respect, mutual support and mutual assistance, and enjoyed profound traditional friendship. China is ready to work with African countries to adhere to treating each other as equals with sincerity, enhance solidarity and mutual trust, jointly pursue inclusive and sustainable development, earnestly advance the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and expand practical cooperation in an open and transparent manner, to realize mutual benefit and win-win results.
President Hassan said that the 20th CPC National Congress has sent the world a clear message of continuing international communication. The Tanzanian side is grateful for China’s support and assistance to Tanzania over the years. Tanzania is firmly committed to the one-China policy and carrying forward Tanzania-China traditional friendship. Tanzania will implement the outcomes of the FOCAC, and work towards new progress in exchanges and cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture and fishery, infrastructure, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and other fields. The Tanzanian side welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Tanzania.
