On November 7, 2022, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a virtual meeting with President of the 77th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi at the latter's request.

Wang noted that on its journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects, China will play a more active part in the reform and development of the global governance system, pursue a vision of global governance featuring shared growth through discussion and collaboration, uphold true multilateralism, keep deepening cooperation with the UN, and make greater contributions to the international community's efforts to address common challenges.

Wang Yi stressed that China has always supported the cause of the UN and the important role of the UN General Assembly. In the face of global volatility, China remains firm in safeguarding the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order underpinned by international law, and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. In the face of the headwinds against globalization, China advocates staying on the right course of economic globalization, rejecting acts of erecting "walls and barriers", decoupling and severing industrial and supply chains, building an open global economy, and promoting common development across the globe. In the face of ideological confrontation, China calls for respect for the development paths of human rights and democracy independently chosen by all countries, and opposes wanton interference in other countries' internal affairs. In the face of  the clash of civilizations rhetoric and power politics, China calls on all countries to hold dear humanity's shared values, respect the diversity of civilizations, and replace  estrangement with cultural exchanges, and  clashes with mutual learning.

Wang Yi said that Chinese modernization is one of harmony between humanity and nature. China will unswervingly pursue a green, low-carbon and sustainable development path. It will continue to engage in international climate cooperation, actively participate in main-channel negotiations on climate change, provide support and assistance within its capacity to developing countries, and contribute its share to the success of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). China is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on water resources with other countries by implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and will actively participate in the UN General Assembly high-level meetings on water resources. China is also ready to step up cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on the management of sustainable soil and water resources within the framework of the GDI, to help build greater synergy among countries to enhance water resources management capacity. As president of the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), China will work with other parties to ensure the success of COP15 Part Two and COP15 as a whole.
