Premier Li Keqiang Met and Talked to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the Sidelines of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation

On the evening of November 12, 2022 local time, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at request and talked to him on the sidelines of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Albanese said that next month, Australia will celebrate with China the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries. It was during the period of a Labor administration led by Prime Minister Gough Whitlam fifty years ago that the two countries established diplomatic relationship. Albanese said that he himself has visited China several times, and Australia is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China and jointly promote the sound development of bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang said, the Chinese people and the Australian people enjoy traditional friendship. The bilateral relations once went through a difficult patch. As you took office as Prime Minister of the new Labor Party administration, you expressed that Australia hopes to work with China  bringing Australia-China relations back to the right track. China is also ready to meet Australia halfway, and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries as an opportunity to promote sustained, sound and steady development of China-Australia relations.
