On Nov 15, an opening ceremony for the autumn semester was held to welcome 49 international freshmen to the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD) at Peking University in Beijing.
In his speech, Tang Wenhong, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, said China, as the world's largest developing country, will always be a firm supporter, active participant and important contributor of the South-South cooperation.
The agency will implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and advance the Global Development Initiative, in a bid to make new contributions to global development.
The institute has cultivated more than 300 high-end talents from 70-plus developing countries since its establishment in 2015.
More than 100 people, including representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Peking University, as well as teachers and master's and doctoral candidates of ISSCAD, were present.
