Li Keqiang Meets with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh

On the morning of November 28, 2022, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh at the Great Hall of the People during his state visit to China.

Li Keqiang said that as friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, China and Mongolia enjoy unique conditions for developing friendly cooperation and distinct complementary advantages in many aspects. President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Mr. President to make comprehensive plans for the development of bilateral relations. China has always attached great importance to its relations with Mongolia and placed the China-Mongolia relationship in an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy. China is ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with Mongolia, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen the synergy of development strategies, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, enhance communication and coordination in regional and international affairs, and jointly work for new progress in China-Mongolia relations.

Li Keqiang noted that China-Mongolia cooperation is not only conducive to regional stability and development, but also injects positive energy into world peace. China is ready to work with Mongolia to improve the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction, coal and other energy development, and jointly safeguard energy security and stable supply. Efforts should be made to actively promote cooperation on border transit and railway connectivity, among others. The two countries also need to strengthen cooperation in combating desertification and strive to meet the challenge of climate change.

Khurelsukh congratulated China on its development achievements in the past 40 years of reform and opening up, and said that Mongolia and China are good neighbors, good friends and good partners. Mongolia is committed to developing long-term, stable, good-neighborly and friendly relations with China, and is willing to enhance the synergy of development strategies with China, implement the new version of the Outline for Midterm Development of Mongolia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation to be signed soon, so as to upgrade bilateral trade. The two sides need to deepen cooperation in infrastructure construction, energy, desertification prevention and control, and other fields, better facilitate logistics and transportation, and improve customs clearance at border ports. The two sides also need to make joint efforts to take the Mongolia-China comprehensive strategic partnership to a new high.
