On the afternoon of 15 November local time, President Xi Jinping met with Senegalese President Macky Sall in Bali.
President Xi noted that China and Senegal are important cooperative partners and co-chairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). With the joint efforts of both sides, China-Senegal and China-Africa relations have gained great progress, with deepened political mutual trust and fruitful results in practical cooperation. China will continue to follow the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests, and enhance solidarity and cooperation with Senegal and other African countries, to jointly build a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
President Xi stressed that China stands ready to continue joining hands with Senegal to forge ahead on the road of development and rejuvenation and support each other on issues of sovereignty, security and development interests. China will continue to support Senegal in building infrastructure such as roads and industrial parks, expand the import of agricultural products from Senegal, step up cooperation on the entire industrial chain of peanuts and on rice farming, and ensure implementation of the measures under the FOCAC framework. China and Senegal hold highly aligned positions on major issues such as safeguarding world peace and promoting common development. China will work in solidarity and coordination with Senegal to jointly uphold international fairness and justice and the common interests of developing countries. China actively supports the African Union in joining the G20.
President Sall once again extended warm congratulations to President Xi on his re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He noted that the CPC is a great party with an exceptional history, and China is a widely respected great country that upholds principles, and a staunch and firm friend of African countries. Be it in agriculture, water conservancy, infrastructure, education and health care or response to the COVID-19 pandemic, China has always stood in solidarity with Senegal and other African countries. He appreciated China’s valuable support to Senegal and other African countries and thanked China for being the first to publicly support the African Union’s bid to join the G20. He said that African countries’ firm support for China in Xinjiang-related issues fully demonstrates the high-quality mutual trust and high-level of relations between Africa and China. Senegal is satisfied with the progress of FOCAC and stands ready to work with China to further promote cooperation under the FOCAC framework.
