GDSSCF program to enhance capacity of Asia-Pacific region in COVID-19 response

A handover ceremony of medical waste treatment equipment, part of the assistance program to learn from China's experience and enhance the capacity of the Asia-Pacific region in COVID-19 response, was held at the Tara Hospital in Pasig, Manila, the Philippines, on Dec 16, 2022.

Head of the Department of Health of the Philippines Maria Rosario Vergeire, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines Edwine Carrie, and Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to the Philippines Yang Guoliang attended and addressed the event, mayor of Pasig addressed the event via video link.

The assistance program was funded by the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDSSCF) established by the Chinese government. 

It aims to help the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal and Laos enhance their capacity in COVID-19 response. The program fully demonstrates China's willingness to share its anti-pandemic experiences and to help those Asian countries in their fight against the pandemic, as well as China's resolution to stand firmly with the international community in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
