On February 1, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to Pakistani President Arif Alvi over the severe terrorist attack in Pakistan.
Xi Jinping expressed his shock learning of the severe terrorist attack, which caused heavy casualties, in Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province in Pakistan. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, he extended deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the injured and the bereaved families.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China opposes terrorism in all forms and strongly condemns the attack. China will continue to firmly support Pakistan in advancing its National Action Plan for countering terrorism and extremism, safeguarding social stability and protecting people's safety. China is ready to deepen counter-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan to jointly safeguard peace and security in the region and the world at large.
Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council sent a message of condolence the same day to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
